Letter to a rape victim !
Dear Girl,
I know you are in peace now. You are resting in god's lap and seeing everyone here fighting for JUSTICE... But trust me now you are safe !
We did candle march, we blamed system/ government, we shouted for a death penalty, we did all this every time we heard of a rape.
Now since a month has passed we are back to our normal life, we still see news channels covering similar news everyday and we then sip a cup of tea and curse the system, security, people with filthy mindset and what not. We watch politician and some media channels cooking up stories on your rape, some make it a big political issue and some points on your dressing sense and we as public blame law and order. At the end justice too get raped....
We ask ourselves; what more can be done??? What is next? who is next? and what should be done to stop rapes? these questions keeps hovering in our brain every time we hear a news on rape.
Yes, we go partying later in the day, we go to our offices and keep ourselves busy everyday. I am sure that was your life style too, you also had a normal life, loads of plan to travel, to study, to work, to live & laugh and to be loved and do something for this society... But this place was not safe enough for your dreams and trust you are in safe hands now.
We now promise that we will give every girl a better place to live and will not let this happen again, we promise to be more responsible and will always be ready to help anyone in need, will fight against evil, will be in senses to avoid any crime, will educate everyone around to treat a woman equally, will create awareness, will oppose any sort of assault. We promise no matter where; be it a college, school, club, office, road, bus, anywhere, we will make it better place for every girl. We will make it safe for every girl to walk with pride.
Can you please come back again? We promise to make this place worth living.
